Carrie Simison is the publisher of the Colorado Springs Independent. She has worked her way through positions including: graphic designer, production manager, assistant publisher, associate publisher, general manager and COO for the past 18 years. Prior to joining the alternative newspaper business, she was employed as a graphic designer and served as Advertising Director for her college newspaper. She has a BS in graphic communications and and MFA in creative writing from the University of Minnesota, Moorhead.
Carrie serves on three boards for nonprofits that make her heart sing: Indy Give!, Trails and Open Space Coalition and the Women’s Mountain Bike Association. When not at work, at a board meeting or riding her bike, you’ll find her talking someone’s ear off at the bar at one of Colorado Springs fantastic breweries, tap houses, bars or restaurants sampling alcohol and food from the region’s talented hospitality industry.
